Journal for 9-27-13
There are four seasons in a year. Each season is about three months long. My favorite one is fall. There are many reasons that I like fall. The number one reason that I like the fall is because hunting season is in it. Also, my birthday is on October 25. The new Call of Duty always comes out in November, so I always get that. Another thing that I like about the fall, especially this fall, is that the new Hobbit movie comes out in early December. There are many more reasons that I like the fall, but I didn't want to bore you. That is why the fall is my favorite season.

Journal for Friday 9-20-13
This summer was a fun summer for me. My family went to the Oregon coast in early to mid August. We visited Portland, Lincoln City, Seaside, and Newport. First, I will describe the ride there. We had just gotten back from Sidney, Montana, for the State Swim Meet. We got back from Sidney at about 10:30, so we were pretty tired. At about 5:00, I got up from a very rough sleep, and took all of my stuff to the car. At about 6:30, we left home. The first third felt the longest from Fairfield to the Montana, Idaho border. We went through Idaho like it was nothing. In about what it felt like five minutes, Coeur d' alene was right in front of us. My dad wanted to stop at Best Buy for some reason. We drove into Washington about ten minutes after we left Coeur d' alene. Now we were half way into the second third of the trip. First, Washington was a lot of cities and towns. Then all of a sudden, there was a huge amount of farm land. When we made it to the Tri-Cities, I forgot there names, we took a break and prepared to cross into the last third of the trip. We left the Tri- Cities, and crossed the Columbia River. Then we went straight with the river to Portland. My dad's sister and her family lives there. After two days, we went to Lincoln City. There, we settled into our rented beach house, and messed around the town. There we went zip-lining, which I was really good at, and surfing. For some reason, I learned what to do before anybody else. My dad and I went ocean fishing. My dad got seasick and threw up twice. But our entire group caught our entire limit of black rockfish, lingcod, seatrout, and starfish. That fish tasted really good when we got home. We went to the aquarium and this museum in Newport. Then we messed around in the 50 degree waters of the Pacific Ocean. This took place over the course of one week. The trip up took one full day. We packed up our things and left early the next morning. We stopped in Coeur d' alene for the night. There is this place there called "Triple Play." It is a miniature amusement park with a whole bunch of stuff to do. We messed around there for a while. The next day we went the rest of the way home. That is the funnest thing that I did this summer.

Superstitions
A superstition is an irrational belief arising from ignorance or fear. There are many superstitions. I will only talk about two of them. The one that I will talk about is if you spill salt, you will get salt in the devil's eye. People used to believe that the devil was always on their left shoulder. This is one of the dumbest superstitions in my opinion. Another belief from this superstition is that throwing salt over your left shoulder symbolizes offering salt for him to use for his bad things that he does. That is the superstition of throwing salt over your left shoulder. Another superstition is that if you knock your fist on wood, you will prevent yourself from jinxing yourself. First of all jinxing is not a very good thing, and second knocking your fist on wood can hurt. This superstition came from the Pagans who believed that all things had a spiritual property. When that thing would die, the soul would die as well and become hollow. That is the origins of two superstitions.
